Basics 1 Open is a 6 week introduction to MYOGA that focuses on building strength, opening into flexibility & cultivating awareness & coordination of body, breath & mind through the process. Basics 1 is the core of the MYOGA practice--start here if you're brand new to yoga or want to re-connect with "the basics!" The practice evolves over the 6 weeks from focus on core, spine & breath the 1st week to moving into Down Dog with awareness the 6th week, however you may join in at any week.
Basics 2 Open is a bridge class. If you've done some yoga but have never been to MYOGA, you're transitioning from the Basics 1 Series to Multi-Level or you're simply looking for a slower-paced class, this is a good class for you. More time is spent learning any new or unfamiliar breathing/movement practices.
Multi-Level Open classes involve centering, warming up, going deeper & integration--all based around the current seasonal focus. Roughly the same sequence is followed in these classes as in the 40 Day Sadhana, but with more time to explore the practice. Please check with us before dropping in to the Multi-Level classes! 40 Day Sadhana is a challenge! This practice creates a new habit of movement, breath & awareness in your life. The practice will be the same throughout, giving you an opportunity to truly embody some key postures/exercises & to see your progress from day 1 to day 40 (yes, including weekends!). There are seven 6-week Sadhanas paced through the year, taking holidays into account as much as possible. "Sadhana is self-enrichment. It is not something which is done to please somebody or to gain something. Sadhana is a personal process in which you bring out your best." ~ Yogi Bhajan. Each sadhana focuses on a particular "tricky" pose (asana) & chakra (energy centre) & as we move through the year the last sadhana sets us up for the next, and yet each is a thorough practice within itself. You'll gain the most benefit from this programme by committing to all 40 Days, however booked drop-ins are welcome on weekends. If you're a beginner though, please see the Core practices above.
MYOGA for Mums enables you to connect with other pre or post-natal women while tuning into your own breath, body & baby. No experience is necessary & you can start at the point in your pregnancy or after giving birth, when you feel ready--many pre-natal women wait until their 2nd trimester & many post-natal women wait until about 6 weeks after birthing to begin. Our focus here is on opening the hips, relieving tension in the shoulder mantle, creating a level of familiarity with conscious breathing & making sound through bij mantras (seed sounds like Ma, Hum, Ong & Sa-Ta-Na-Ma), cultivating awareness of the muscles involved in natural birth through pelvic floor exercises & also developing a conscious relationship with sensation through safe, yet intense, exercises.
Current Sadhana Intensives are a way for those immersed in the current sadhana series to take the practice to a deeper, stronger level. We gain an experiential sense of the current chakra & asana focus, learn hands-on & spend more time with every aspect. Please contact us to discuss suitability & registration. Weekend Workshops will be added intermittently through the year & may include Partner, Kundalini & Nada Yoga .
MAPlay Dates are for MAP (myoga apprentice programme) students only as they move through a year of group work to satisfy the Yoga Alliance 200 hour Basics Teacher Training requirements & progress towards teaching full classes.
